DOUBTING THE WORD IS DOUBTING JESUS.
John 1:14
The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
The Scripture are very clear that Jesus is the Word of God who came in the flesh. The Word of God has been fully fulfilled in the life and death of Jesus. The moment Jesus breathed His last breath on the cross as He uttered the words, “it is finished” is the moment everything had been accomplished so that Scripture could be fulfilled. We read in Isaiah 55:11 that God said His Word that comes from His mouth would not return to Him empty, but will accomplish what He desired and achieve the purpose for which He sent it. God could say this with confidence because He was speaking of His Son and the finished work that would be accomplished on the cross. In Psalm 138:2 we read that God had placed His Word above His Name. Again, it speaks of Jesus whom God has exalted and granted all authority in heaven and on the earth. The truth of the matter is that if we believe that we cannot trust the Bible, if we doubt the Word of God our doubt is not in the written Word but our doubt is in the living Word, in the One through whom the Word was fulfilled, Jesus the Son of God. We cannot say we believe in Jesus but we doubt the Word of God for Jesus is the Word of God brought into fulfilment. The Scripture is also very clear that the Word of God is full of grace and truth. The Word came unto us and made His dwelling among us to bring us the good news of the goodness and the love of God, and to make known the favour and the acceptance by God which came to mankind and all of this we can only receive if we believe the Word to be trustworthy and true. It cost a Father to allow His Son to die a terrible and humiliating death on a cross to bring His Word into fulfilment to accomplish in each of our lives. So, you see, we cannot separate Jesus from the Word because as we clearly see the Word was made manifest through the life of Jesus and the word was fulfilled through His death.
Therefore, should you believe the Bible to not be trustworthy then you believe the life and death of Jesus to be but a lie and the Bible becomes just another book of made up stories that you can put up on your shelf. Your faith in the Word is what gives it power in your life but should you doubt the Bible you will never see the fulfilment thereof.
We are all born under a curse and in a state of sin and death. We are all held captive in the power of darkness deceived by the god of this world. Suffering and sickness, and weakness and infirmities, and heartache and pain being our portion. But there is hope that came to us through Jesus who came in the flesh and dwelled among us to make known unto us the grace of God and the truth of His love which we now read about in the Bible. I tell you the truth it is very sad when a man or a woman do not believe the Bible to be trustworthy for they will remain in the state they are in and will never be free to live the live that the very Bible they doubt promises them.
