Thanks Be to God for His Indescribable Gift!

It's that time of year when people will start to get frantic looking for that perfect gift for that special someone. This usually takes a lot of thought and creativity, a lot of work, and much patience. It's just so easy to buy a gift card, isn’t it?

A gift is not supposed to be an obligation, but a kind gesture toward that person, because you appreciate them. The best gift is having your loved ones around you during the holiday season.

I remember one year when I was 8 or 9 years old. When I opened the door of the middle bedroom at home, the entire living room had gifts all the way to the kitchen. I mean they were some nice gifts! All six boys received hockey gear everything with the Boston Bruins of course. That year they won the Stanley Cup. These gifts were so indescribable as a young kid.

The Apostle Paul talks about Jesus the son of God as INDESCRIBABLE. The word also translates as "too wonderful for words" and "precious beyond words."

"Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!" II Corinthians 9:15

Paul could not describe the feelings he experienced because of the precious gift of salvation in Christ. Like Paul, none of us deserve God’s love or grace, but God showers us with love and emptying everything from heaven to give us Jesus Christ as a gift to humanity. “Emmanuel God with us revealed in us.”

God looks at no status symbols, no class, no race, no color, no social status, or whether you are rich or poor, God looks at your heart. Do you believe He asks every one of us?

“For you are recognizing [more clearly] the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [His astonishing kindness, His generosity, His gracious favor], that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that by His poverty you might become rich (abundantly blessed).”

2 Corinthians 8:9 AMP

The greatest and most unexplained gift on earth is the gift of God’s salvation. Why?

  1. God sent Jesus to forgive us of our sins. “She (Mary) will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins,” Matthew 1:21 NIV.

  2. We cannot earn our salvation by good works. We are saved by faith in God.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8‭-‬9 NIV

  1. When we have a personal encounter/relationship with the Lord Christ it is hard to explain God’s forgiveness and unconditional love. We begin to share what He has done out of gratitude because we didn’t deserve His mercy and grace.

My Friend, where are you with this indescribable gift? In order to enjoy any gift, it must be unwrapped first. The way we experience God in a personal way is to start by unwrapping the gift of our hearts.

A simple prayer of faith. Dear Lord Jesus, I acknowledge my sins. Please forgive me of my sins and live in my heart from this day forward in Jesus’s name. Amen.
